Season Six Launch Party

Season Six Launch Party — In Person at Last

It’s something we’d wanted to do for a long time, and we finally made it happen — an in-person launch event for our new Season Six collection.

We put the feelers out at the end of November, and, to our surprise, got a bunch of interest. That quickly turned into a mission to find the right venue.

After deep-diving Google, Facebook hubs and Instagram, Sophie managed to call on previous clients she’d shot a wedding for — and that’s how we found Corner Coffee Porthcawl.

Finding the Right Spot

We popped in just before confirming to check it out. I don’t normally venture too far north from Coney Beach car park when heading out for a surf, unless I’m off for a paddle out at Rest Bay.

As soon as we walked in, I thought... YES.
Surfboards tied to the ceiling, a Tame Impala poster on the wall, old school surf magazines on the coffee tables — I was all in. One belting flat white later, and the decision was sealed.

Why This Event Mattered

Kookville, for me, has always been more than just selling clothes and building a brand.
The dream is to grow this into a full-time job — but giving back and doing positive things with the opportunities that come with it is just as important.

I thought about using ticket sales to fund future drops or cover business overheads… then thought, “naa.”
This felt like another chance to do something good.

Tickets were £5, and every penny went to Surfers Against Sewage

Raising just over £300 for SAS through ticket sales alone.

The Night Itself

When the night came, we’d classically forgotten all our stationery — price lists, product cards, stands... that's what happens when you plan a pop up event whilst working a full time job.

Luckily, our friend Mary absolutely saved us, driving out of her way to our house to collect the unspoken bag of missing importances, and the night went way better than we ever could’ve hoped for!

Around 50 of 'The Crew' turned up in great spirits. Beers, pots of tea, Corner Coffee speziales, good tunes, laughs and plenty of chit-chat filled the room.

Once our stationery arrived, we opened the shop — and honestly, I was buzzing. The response to the new Season Six collection was unreal. Compliments on quality, the designs, and everyone busting to get their hands on the stuff.

Unexpected Bestsellers

Our Crewneck Jumpers were a big hit selling out of multiple sizes on the spot, and it was sick to see love for some of our older pieces too!

But the genuine surprise?
The Lifeboat Red Swirl Embroidered Beanie.

It was a last-minute decision to run a colour outside our usual palette — and it turned out to be the right call!

The name came for the Lifeboat Red Beanie came about while Ruth Jones’ TV show about Porthcawl was on the TV, where she had a trip out on a boat with the South Wales lifeboat crew. As a surfer, I see the RNLI out on the water all the time — training, rescuing, doing their thing — so something clicked and the name just felt right.

From that point, we committed to donating £1 from every Lifeboat Beanie to the RNLI.

Raffles, Friends & Community

We ran five raffle prizes including:

We were also lucky enough to have prizes donated by friends:

Massive, massive love for that support.

What’s Next

It was an epic night for us, and we’re so stoked on the turnout.
Planning the event really got the creative juices flowing — and I cannot wait to do the next event!

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our Season Six Launch Party, and to everyone who bought tickets but couldn’t make it — you still did a great deed for the Christmas period by supporting Surfers Against Sewage and our Launch Event.
