The idea for Kookville first came in 2020. We realised how uninspiring most of our clothes were — bland designs, poor quality, and brands that seemed to overlook both sustainability and ethics. That’s when I thought: why not create our own t-shirts? At first, it was only for us with no intention of selling, just something we would be proud to wear.

Fast forward to 2022, and we finally brought those first t-shirts to life. Coming from a background as an electrician with no experience in design, fashion, or manufacturing, the process was a real challenge — but one worth taking on. Once the first shirts were made, friends and family wanted some. We made a small batch, then a few more, and before long Kookville began to take shape.

Surfing has always been a huge part of our live, so it was only natural that the brand grew around surf and skate culture — clothing inspired by the coast, built to last, and designed to handle the rugged, ever-changing UK weather. From the beginning, Kookville has been about one simple aim: creating planet-minded clothing that feels good, lasts longer, and reflects the lifestyle we love.

The journey has been full of learning and experimentation, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see how Kookville has been taken by so many people.

In that time, we’ve released five full seasons of designs, each one evolving from the last. We're working hard to fine-tune the process, improve quality, and push the boundaries on what we can create.

We’ve also learned a lot about what our customers want—clothing that not only looks good but feels good to wear. Whether it’s the fabric choice, the fit, or the design, we’re always seeking ways to improve.

But beyond just making good clothing, our mission has always been about doing it in a way that’s responsible and sustainable. We’re committed to working with safer, ethical factories that prioritize fair labor practices and environmentally friendly production methods. Being a surfer, sustainability is at the forefront of our brand ethos, and we’re always looking for better ways to reduce our impact on the planet. We understand that as a brand, we have a responsibility to make choices that contribute positively to the world, and we’re committed to making those choices.

Looking ahead, there are plenty of exciting things on the horizon. We are working to expand our products, dive deeper into sustainable practices within clothing, and continue to build a brand that people can trust and feel good about supporting.
